Chin augmentation, slimmer face

Chin augmentation is an important aspect of facial beauty. For those who have a short chin, square face, or round face, it helps in balancing and enhancing the facial proportions, creating a more harmonious and aesthetically pleasing look. Chin augmentation can address issues such as a small chin, large chin, or a protruding chin, which are out of proportion. Therefore, adjusting the curve to suit one’s facial structure is key to enhancing the beauty of the face.

Method used for chin augmentation

Chin augmentation is typically performed using a silicone implant, which is ideal for cases where a small to moderate enhancement is desired. There are two common methods for inserting the implant: one involves making an incision inside the mouth, while the other requires an incision on the outer skin of the chin. There are two types of silicone implants for chin augmentation: the regular type, which is used for enhancing the middle portion of the chin, and the other type which may vary in shape depending on the individual’s needs and desired results.

There are two types of chin augmentation: external incision and internal incision.

  1. External Incision (แผลนอก): This method involves a surgery performed beneath the chin, where the incision is hidden and not visible. It is done using a laser technique, leaving a small incision with minimal swelling and bruising. This method allows the surgeon to adjust the chin’s shape at different angles with precision, making it easier to position the implant accurately. Additionally, it allows for the removal of excess skin under the chin, reducing the chance of asymmetry. The scar typically fades within 1-3 months, and healing is accelerated if combined with scar treatment medications or laser scar removal.
  1. Internal Incision (แผลใน): This surgery is done inside the mouth, near the lower lip. It is ideal for individuals who are prone to keloid scarring (raised scars). After the surgery, special care is required to avoid infection from saliva or food particles. Extra caution is necessary to prevent the silicone implant from shifting out of place due to impact or pressure after the surgery.

Risks of chin augmentation surgery

  • Numbness in the Lips: After chin augmentation surgery, you may experience numbness in the lips, particularly on the inside of the lower lip where the incision was made. This numbness typically improves over time as the nerves heal.
  • Swelling and Pain: The chin area and surrounding areas may experience swelling and discomfort after the procedure. This is a common reaction to surgery and should subside in the days following the procedure.
  • Altered Sensation: There may be a change in sensation around the chin, which could be temporary or permanent. Some patients experience numbness or altered feeling in the area where the surgery was performed.
  • Risk of Displacement: It’s important to be cautious about impacts or trauma to the face post-surgery, as it can cause the silicone implant to shift out of position.
  • العدوى: As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of infection at the incision site. Proper care and hygiene must be maintained to avoid complications.
